Sage and Lavender Deodorant
I have never liked that sticky mess that never wants to come off in the shower, called deodorant or antiperspirant. I actually use foot scrub on my armpits each shower, to try to get the build-up off. It never really works. So, I have made my own deodorant in hopes of 1: have buildup free pits and 2: introduce fewer chemicals to my body. I use sage, bergamot, and lavender in my oil. Sage is used for its assistance in calming perspiration and healing(incase I ever cut myself shaving). Lavender for its smell mostly. And bergamot for its antibacterial properties. I let them soak for 2-4 weeks in a half pint jar about 2/3 full of dried material, 1/4 cup melted coconut oil, and sweet almond oil to the brim.
When the oil is ready, strain it and use 1/2 cup for the recipe.
1/2 cup infused oil and 2 ounces beeswax melted in a double boiler. Once the beeswax is completely melted, add 1 ounce of shea butter. Stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and add 30 drops of essential oils, I like lavender and chamomile. Stir in 2 TBS arrowroot powder and 2 tsp baking soda. The mixture will thicken up slightly. Pour into a deodorant container or a silicone form. Let deodorant set up for an hour or two before using it.
